Conference Photography for Oriflame at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole
Just a bit of text
I was recently back at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in Birmingham photographing a training conference for Oriflame.
This was my sixth shoot for the client and it’s always one I look forward to. The team are great to work with, the delegates are engaged from start to finish and there’s always plenty going on throughout the day.
The Hilton Birmingham Metropole is one of the UK’s leading conference hotels and a venue I’ve worked at many times over the years. It’s a popular choice for large conferences, training events and corporate meetings, with plenty of space for presentations, networking, exhibitions and breakout sessions.
Around 300 delegates attended this event, which focused on training, recognition, personal development and product knowledge. There was a packed programme throughout the day, with presentations, motivational speakers, product demonstrations and plenty of opportunities for people to meet and catch up with colleagues.
One of the things I enjoy about photographing Oriflame events is that people want to be there. They’re interested in what’s happening, they’re proud of what they’ve achieved and they’re happy to have their photograph taken. That makes a big difference when you’re photographing a conference.
When people think about conference photography, they often think about speakers on stage. Those photographs are important, but they’re only one part of the day.
I’m also looking for audience reactions, conversations between delegates, people visiting product displays, networking during breaks and all the smaller moments that show what the event was actually like to attend. These are often the photographs that clients use most afterwards because they help show the scale and feel of the event.
With 300 delegates spread across the venue, there was always something happening. While presentations were taking place in the main conference room, there were conversations in breakout spaces, people meeting around the exhibition areas and delegates catching up throughout the hotel.
The events team at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole were excellent as always. Having an experienced venue team behind a large conference helps everything run smoothly and allows me to concentrate on photographing the day rather than worrying about logistics.
Having photographed several events for Oriflame, I also have a good understanding of the range of images they need. I know the key parts of the programme to focus on, the types of photographs that work well for their marketing and internal communications, and where the important moments are likely to happen.
Professional conference photography continues to be valuable long after an event has finished. The photographs are used across websites, social media, presentations, internal communications and future event marketing. A good conference gallery should show not only what happened on stage, but what the day was like for the people who attended.
This was another enjoyable shoot with a long-term client and a great example of the conference photography work I regularly provide across Birmingham, the Midlands, London and throughout the UK.
If you’re organising a conference, training event or corporate meeting and need professional conference photography, I’d be happy to discuss your requirements.
Small Steps Create Big Shifts
It All Begins Here
Confidence doesn’t always arrive with a bold entrance. Sometimes, it builds quietly, step by step, as we show up for ourselves day after day. It grows when we choose to try, even when we’re unsure of the outcome. Every time you take action despite self-doubt, you reinforce the belief that you’re capable. Confidence isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about trusting that you can figure it out along the way.
The key to making things happen isn’t waiting for the perfect moment; it’s starting with what you have, where you are. Big goals can feel overwhelming when viewed all at once, but momentum builds through small, consistent action. Whether you’re working toward a personal milestone or a professional dream, progress comes from showing up — not perfectly, but persistently. Action creates clarity, and over time, those steps forward add up to something real.
You don’t need to be fearless to reach your goals, you just need to be willing. Willing to try, willing to learn, and willing to believe that you’re capable of more than you know. The road may not always be smooth, but growth rarely is. What matters most is that you keep going, keep learning, and keep believing in the version of yourself you’re becoming.
