Celebrating 40 Years of the QEII Centre, Westminster

Happy 40th Birthday to One of My Longest-Standing Clients

Happy 40th birthday to one of my favourite venues and one of my longest-standing clients, the QEII Centre.

I think I’ve been photographing there for more than 12 years now, which is quite a strange thought. That’s nearly a third of the venue’s entire lifespan.

Over those years I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve walked through the front doors, but I’m always pleased when another booking comes in.

A Venue That Never Gets Repetitive

One of the reasons I enjoy working at the QEII Centre so much is the variety.

One week I might be photographing a large conference. The next it’s an awards dinner, a corporate event, food photography, headshots or a case study shoot.

Very few venues give me such a varied mix of work and that’s one of the reasons I keep enjoying every visit.

The images in this post only scratch the surface of the different types of photography I’ve been fortunate enough to produce there over the years.

Right in the Heart of Westminster

Location is another reason the QEII Centre stands out.

Sitting opposite Westminster Abbey and just around the corner from the Houses of Parliament, it’s difficult to imagine a more recognisable setting for a London conference venue.

For delegates travelling from overseas, the venue offers a fantastic first impression of London. For me, it’s simply a privilege to spend so much time photographing events in such an historic part of the city.

I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of walking through Westminster with a camera over my shoulder.

Conference and Event Photography at the QEII Centre

I’ve photographed conferences, exhibitions, awards dinners, networking events, headshots, food photography and lifestyle imagery at the QEII Centre.

Working at the same venue over many years also means I know the building well, which helps when planning photographs, working around busy event schedules and making the most of the different spaces throughout the venue.

It’s a relationship I’ve always valued and one I’m incredibly grateful for.

Here’s to the Next Forty Years

Congratulations to everyone at the QEII Centre on reaching such an impressive milestone.

Thank you for continuing to trust me with your photography over the years.

I’m fairly sure I won’t still be photographing your 80th birthday celebrations, but I’d be delighted to play a small part in a few more chapters of the story before I finally hang up the camera.

Happy 40th Birthday, QEII Centre.
