Exhibition & Trade Show Photography

I photograph exhibitions and trade shows for organisers, exhibitors and agencies, capturing the stands, people and activity that bring a show to life. Based in Leicestershire, I work at the NEC Birmingham and venues throughout the UK, with exhibition assignments also taking me to Olympia London and ExCeL London.

From opening-day crowds and headline appearances to product demonstrations and conversations on stands, my coverage shows both the scale of an exhibition and the interactions within it. The photographs provide material for press coverage, social media, exhibitor communications and promotion of future shows.

Photographing the whole show

An exhibition has several stories happening at once. Wide views establish the layout and atmosphere, while closer photographs show visitors discovering products, exhibitors making connections and audiences responding to a talk.

I move between these different perspectives throughout the day, photographing busy aisles, stand activity, demonstrations, speakers and quieter details. Recognisable branding and the setting help connect the photographs to your exhibition.

For individual exhibitors, the focus can be more concentrated: the stand before visitors arrive, the team, the products on display and the conversations that follow.

Photographs while the exhibition is still open

Some photographs are needed before the day is over. An opening ceremony, a guest appearance or a busy show floor can give your publicity team something to share while visitors still have time to attend.

By arrangement, I can set aside a short editing window during coverage to prepare a selection for your team. At Grand Designs Live, this meant reviewing the strongest opening photographs with my client and preparing their selection for immediate distribution to news outlets.

Grand Designs Live at the NEC

In 2025, I photographed Grand Designs Live for Media 10 for the fourth time, covering opening day and Saturday. The assignment began with portraits of Kevin McCloud before the doors opened, followed by the ribbon cutting, arriving crowds and a quick turnaround of photographs for the press.

The rest of the coverage explored the exhibition floor: conversations on stands, live discussions and audience reactions. It is an example of how I combine planned publicity photographs with the activity and atmosphere of a busy show.
