Timeless Inspirations: a party at EDEN Gallery London

An energetic first evening with EDEN Gallery

This was my first time photographing an event for EDEN Gallery, and quite an introduction. I was on New Bond Street for the London leg of Timeless Inspirations, with artists attending, a dedicated following among the guests and plenty happening throughout the gallery.

There was great food, excellent music and a DJ set from Alec Monopoly. It was a busy, lively evening to photograph, with the artwork providing a colourful setting for everything going on around it.

Inside Timeless Inspirations

The exhibition brought together work by Alec Monopoly, Jisbar, Angelo Accardi and Fred Allard. Its full title, Timeless Inspirations: Classical Roots in Modern Art, reflected the artists’ different approaches to revisiting familiar imagery and ideas from the past.

Across the gallery, there were bold colours, recognisable characters and sculptures that rewarded a closer look. Alongside the event photographs, I made time for these details: painted vehicle bodywork at one end of the selection, a sparkling red octopus at the other.

Artists and their following

What stood out was the enthusiasm for the artists. People knew their work and were excited to be there with them. Having that connection in the room gave the evening its character, with conversations and photographs happening among the displays.

My attention kept moving between the artworks and the people around them. There were animated exchanges, smiles and groups coming together for photographs, often with a painting or sculpture just behind them.

Elsewhere, smaller groups were chatting over drinks. Keeping some of the artwork in these photographs helps place those conversations within this particular evening at EDEN.

Drinks, music and a busy gallery

The hospitality was part of the evening too. Alongside the guests and artwork, I photographed the bar service, where drinks were being prepared amid the colour of the exhibition.

Music gave the party much of its energy, and Alec Monopoly’s DJ set was a highlight. With artworks surrounding the decks and guests gathering close by, the exhibition and the party occupied the same space throughout the evening.

The party around the decks

Phones were raised, people were posing together and there was plenty of enthusiasm around the music. I kept moving between those wider groups and closer photographs of the people enjoying the evening.

For a first shoot with EDEN Gallery, it was a memorable one. I enjoyed the combination of art, personalities and music, and being there to photograph the London event in an exhibition with an international reach.
